History
Founded in the 1970’s, the fellowship is one of the oldest in the world. Its extensive alumni net work stretches globally.
100% Board Pass Rate
All first-time takers passed ABP critical care boards on the most recent exam.
Advanced ECMO Training
Fellows participate in the care of >75 ECMO patients each year in the PICU and CVICU. Our center is designated as an ELSO Platinum Center of Excellence. Fellows receive additional ECMO training during an intensive ECMO bootcamp during orientation and throughout fellowship with hands on experience at the bedside and various wet labs.
Top Notch Clinical Training
From our PICU with over 3000 admissions each year, to our CVICU, part of the Heart Center which conducts over 650 cardiac surgeries every year, fellowship graduates are well-prepared to excel in any clinical setting.
Fellow Research Accolades
In recent years, our fellows have received awards for their work, including the Young Investigator’s award from ELSO and Start Research award from SCCM
In addition to the standard three-year Fellowship Program, we offer two-year advanced training program positions and dual subspeciality training. Non-Standard Pathways:
UT Southwestern has a unique opportunity in the Clinical Informatics Fellowship where physicians interested in becoming leaders in the development and implementation of clinical information systems can complete a two-year ACGME accredited training program or explore integrated training experiences. New and Exciting!
We are Expanding
This is a really exciting time at Children's Health and UT Southwestern. Children's Health is expanding and plans to build a new hospital in the next 5-10 years. It will have 533 inpatient beds, 114 ED beds, and include increases in the number of beds in the PICU (80 beds) and CVICU. There is lots of planning happening and we will need a lot of people to staff this new hospital.
